Please thoroughly follow the steps below to troubleshoot issues related to your Genie not firing the camera-
- CHECK LINK CABLE.
Make sure that the LINK cable is securely plugged in on both the Genie and the Camera. It is
a common problem that the cable is not quite connected properly check by firmly pressing in
the cable. - SET TO MANUAL FOCUS (MF).
Always set your camera / lens to Manual Focus (MF) not Auto Focus (AF). In Auto Focus mode
the camera will try and find an Auto Focus (AF) point and if it can’t, the camera will not fire. - IMAGE REVIEW OFF.
Turn off ‘image review’. On some camera types if image review is ON, previewing the last
photo can affect the next shot causing the camera not to fire. - LIVE VIEW OFF.
Turn off ‘live view’. Set your camera to ‘photo’ mode not ‘Live view’. ‘Live view’ can cause
issues with the shutter firing on some camera types. - CHECK YOUR INTERVAL.
Ensure you have set a sufficient Interval.
Your interval time should be long enough to account for:
1. Shutter speed time
2. Processing the image onto your card (Raw takes longer)
3. Move-shoot-delay.
As a safety set your interval time at least 2 seconds longer than your shutter speed. - RELOAD TO FACTORY DEFAULTS.
If you are still experiencing issues then navigate to:
-> Settings
-> Load Factory Defaults (Scroll right down the bottom on a new screen)

Hiya, I've attempted all but the last step, as I think that the latest version of the android application doesn't have a factory reset button. I can't seem to get my genie mini to trigger the shutter of either of my cameras (Nikon D5600 & D7200). I've got 2 genie minis and have tried all steps on both. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I had the same problem with my Pentax KP. I noticed that the camera saw the Genie as a microphone. Microphone and remote control have the same connection on the camera. In the menu under "External input devices" you have the choice of 3 options, "Auto, Microphone or Remote control. I then selected from Auto to Remote control. Then it worked perfectly. I don't know if this is also possible with Nikon.
